Sydney, for your party alone

Sydney has no shortage of private day tours. Most take you to the same landmarks in a comfortable vehicle and call it private.

This is not that day.

This is a full private tour through the Sydney that exists beneath the surface. Aboriginal Country. Hidden coastal wilderness. A flying fox colony in a paperbark forest most Sydneysiders have never found. And a harbour that reveals itself completely differently when you are on the water rather than looking at it from the shore.

The day ends with dinner at Midden by Mark Olive, the celebrated Indigenous restaurant at the Sydney Opera House. One of Australia’s most important culinary voices. A fitting end to a day that has been about this country’s deepest stories from the first moment.

Nothing shared. Nothing rushed. Entirely yours.

A paperbark forest in the middle of Sydney. Your party only.

Hidden Sydney. Wild. Ancient. Entirely unexpected.

Most visitors to Sydney never find Centennial Parklands. Fewer still find what lives inside it.

In a secluded paperbark forest within one of Sydney’s great public green spaces, a colony of native Grey-headed Flying Foxes roosts in plain sight of a city that does not know they are there. These are not bats in the conventional sense. They are large, extraordinary animals. One of Australia’s most important native species. Living an entirely wild existence inside the city, unchanged by everything built around them.

Your guide knows exactly where to find them and how to read the colony. Your party will have this moment almost entirely to itself.

It sits between the Aboriginal morning and the harbour evening. It breaks the rhythm of the day in the best possible way. It is the encounter that stays with people long after the harbour and the Opera House have faded into postcards.

Sydney Harbour, open water. Then Mark Olive at the table.

Private yacht charter. Two hours. The harbour as it should be seen.

There is only one way to understand Sydney Harbour and it is not from the shore.

At Barangaroo, your party boards a private luxury yacht with David, your host on the water and one of Sydney Harbour’s great storytellers. Two hours. The Harbour Bridge above you. The Opera House ahead. The city skyline in the afternoon light. Drinks in hand. No other passengers. The harbour, finally, as it deserves to be experienced.

From the water, you move to Bennelong Point and the Sydney Opera House. A guided walk around one of the world’s most recognised buildings, its stories told properly rather than recited.

Then dinner at Midden.

Mark Olive is one of Australia’s most celebrated Indigenous chefs. The voice behind a food movement that insists Australia’s culinary identity begins with its first peoples. At Midden, the menu is built on native Australian ingredients. Dishes that carry the same philosophy as the day you have just lived, expressed through food, with the Harbour Bridge framed in the window beside you.

Two courses. The harbour. Mark Olive’s kitchen. Your party at the table.

It is the only ending this day could have.

Frequently asked questions

This day is designed for discerning adults who want to experience Sydney beyond its surface. Travellers who are already visiting Sydney and want one day that stands apart from everything else on their itinerary. Those who value depth over pace, genuine cultural connection over sightseeing, and private access over shared convenience.
Private with us does not stop at the vehicle, as it does with most tour operators in Sydney. With South of 34°, private means your vehicle, your driver-guide, and every key arranged experience within your day is dedicated exclusively to your party. Your Bush Tucker experience in the Royal Botanic Gardens is arranged privately for your group. Your yacht charter on Sydney Harbour is yours alone. No other passengers. No other parties. Some locations within your day, including the flying fox colony, Bondi, the Opera House, and Midden, are public or shared spaces by their nature. This is Sydney. What is private is how you move through them. At your pace. With your guide. Without strangers setting the agenda.
Approximately 10.5 hours door-to-door. Your guide meets you at your Sydney CBD hotel at 9:30 AM. You are returned by approximately 7:45 PM.
A private Mercedes V-Class, exclusive to your party for the entire day. Comfortable, unhurried, and entirely yours throughout Sydney.
Bush Tucker refers to the native foods and plant medicines of Aboriginal Australia, and to the knowledge systems and living culture encoded in the landscape that colonial Sydney grew around without ever fully seeing. Your guide, a local Aboriginal guide, brings that knowledge to life in a private session in the Royal Botanic Gardens. The plants, the stories, the significance of what grows here and why it matters. On land that was never empty, in a garden that sits at the heart of one of the world's great cities.
Flying Foxes are bats. The largest bats in the world, with wingspans reaching close to a metre (around 3 feet), and faces that look nothing like what most people picture when they hear the word. Within Centennial Parklands, a colony of native Grey-headed Flying Foxes roosts in a secluded paperbark forest that most Sydneysiders have never visited. Large, extraordinary animals. One of Australia's most important native species. Living an entirely wild existence inside the city. Your guide knows where to find them. It is one of those encounters that stays with you long after the rest of the day has settled.
Mark Olive is one of Australia's most celebrated Indigenous chefs. A culinary advocate for native Australian ingredients and the food culture of Australia's First Peoples. Midden is his restaurant at the Sydney Opera House, named for the shell middens left by Aboriginal people along Sydney's harbour foreshore over thousands of years. The menu is built on native Australian produce. The setting is one of the most iconic in the world. Together, they make a dinner that belongs to no other city on earth.
A two-hour private luxury yacht charter on Sydney Harbour departing from Barangaroo at twilight. Your party has the yacht to itself. No other passengers. Drinks and light refreshments on board. The Harbour Bridge, the Opera House, and the city skyline from the water. It is the only way to see Sydney Harbour properly.
The day involves moderate walking along the Bondi promenade, around the Opera House, and through the Botanic Gardens and Centennial Parklands. No significant fitness is required. The pace is set by your guide and calibrated to your party throughout.
A minimum of 21 days. The yacht charter, Midden reservation, and Aboriginal guide all require advance coordination to secure your party's exclusive arrangements.
Yes, and it is the only version of Sydney worth experiencing as a first visit. Every iconic landmark is in the day. So is everything that makes Sydney genuinely extraordinary beyond those landmarks. You will leave having seen the city most visitors miss entirely.
Because this combination does not exist if you arrange it independently. The Bush Tucker guide, the yacht charter, and a Midden reservation are each individually bookable. But bringing them together into a single privately held day, with one vehicle, one guide managing every transition, and every detail confirmed in advance, is what South of 34° provides. The curation and coordination are what you are booking. Not just the experiences.
